Under reign of King James 1st in 1611 catholic religion was gradually becoming outlawed & Catholics feared not just imprisonment but death. This building was a hideout & home for the catholic minority. Later a hunting lodge for the wealthy & now hotel & pub. Voices are herd in empty rooms here, bar stools move & glasses disappear. Todays sightings of a woman in the bedrooms, doors moving & sounds of keys jangling may be linked to the death of a young servant girl here.
